We use 100% cotton Charles Craft Gold Standard and Zweigart Premium Quality Aida. Our process is designed to produce an Aida that retains its original stiffness, is colorfast and is virtually wrinkle-free. It is more appropriate for use with stretcher bars, scroll frames and Q-snaps. However, it can be used on hoops as well. If you would like a more softer fabric - it can be washed. Use the cold water, delicate setting on your washing machine and dry in a low heat dryer just until the material is dry. The fabric will fray a bit around the edges unless you serge the edges first and you will have quite a bit of wrinkling. It will take a bit of elbow grease and a hot iron to get the wrinkles out but you will have a much softer, pliable fabric.
Shipping is free anywhere in the United States. International buyers must pay all shipping, import fees and taxes. Items will be sent via First Class or Priority Mail depending on the size of the package. A tracking number will be provided. All fabric is shipped ROLLED rather than folded.
Our shipping time varies depending on how busy we are. Our fabric is dyed to order and the processing time can be anywhere from 2-10 business days. We try to ship as quickly as possible and most orders ship within 3 days. If we are very busy (usually before holidays and after trade shows) I will update the shipping to reflect the delay. Please contact us if you are concerned about the actual shipping time and we will give you a more accurate time frame.
For those not familiar with hand-dyed Aida - our prices may seem high. However, they do reflect the industry standards. And remember shipping is always free on all our designs and fabric when shipped within the United States. As reflected in our reviews and by our five star rating - we offer an exceptional product of high quality in beautiful colors that is packaged and shipped rolled instead of folded. As my late father-in-law was known to say, "Quality is not expensive, it's priceless." Considering the hours of hard work you will put into stitching a design - it's worth starting with a quality product.
Dream Big Little Mermaid - the floss list is incorrect on some charts. Please use the following information: A is E3949, B is 793, C is 4030 and D is 3810. All are DMC colors.
We have 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions available. You pick the color category, count and size. We send you a different color fabric every month. No repititions during each subscription period. You may change the count and color category during the subscription period but SIZE changes are not permitted.
We do offer custom colors and size cuts. Please contact us for individual pricing.
Our fabric is cut to the requested size and then dyed to order. Shrinkage does occur. Sizes given are approximate. Please consider this when calculating your needs.
Every computer, tablet, phone - represents color in a different way. Typically, this is no where near what the color actually looks like in person. Please do not base your fabric choice on the image you are seeing - for every listing, there is a DMC floss reference. Please use THIS information when deciding on a color for your project. But also remember that even this is just a reference. The hand-dyed fabric is just that - it is dyed entirey by hand - not mass produced in a factory some where. Each and every piece will be slightly different. We are also available for help and suggestions, please contact us and we will be happy to provide assistance.
There were two things we considered when experimenting with different dyeing techniques - the stiffness of the fabric that we wanted to use and the desire for a virtually wrinkle free product. After much experimentation, it became apparent that the traditional dip-dye technique would not work for us. We decided to go with a brush-on technique that results in a beautiful, muted finish with subtle shading. To achieve a wrinkle free product, the fabric is laid flat to dry. While either side may be stitched on, there is generally a right and wrong side. We roll and package the fabric with the "right" side out. The results speak for themselves and our reviews say it all.
